The adventurous can take an optional walk up the Livingstonia Plateau to see the mission built by the Scottish missionaries in 1894. It is sometimes possible to catch a lift with a vehicle going to the top of the plateau. Day 13 - Lake Malawi - Chinteche
Your journey continues down the lake to beautiful rural Chinteche, where you camp close to the shoreline. There is the possibility of doing an optional transfer by boat further north up the lake to Nkhata bay or Kande beach, where scuba diving is available and other optional water sports and activities. Days 14 & 15 - Lake Malawi - Senga Bay
You proceed to Salima and the fantastic Senga Bay. You have two days at the lake to relax at Senga Bay and explore the local villages. You can also try optional sailing, snorkeling, windsurfing and water-skiing. Camping (Steps Camp).

Days 16 & 17 - Zambia - South Luangwa National Park
Heading west you enter into Zambia and the awesome South Luangwa National Park - notably one of Africa's best-kept secrets. With over 9000 sq km of pristine wilderness, South Luangwa is teeming with over 47 animal species - herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra, hyena, jackal, 15 different antelope and the endemic Cookson's wildebeest and Thornicroft's Giraffe. |

You will enjoy 2 included game drives into the park - one will be a 4-hour drive starting at 6:30 in the morning (slightly later during winter). The second game drive will be that evening - departure time will be approx. 4:00 pm Once it gets dark you will make use of a spotlight to track down nocturnal species such as leopard and spotted genets. You will return to an already prepared and welcome dinner at approx 8:00pm. |

You camp at Flatdogs Camp, which is beautifully situated on the banks of the Luangwa River. Good sightings of hippo and crocodile can be seen from the camp. Day 18 - Traveling Day and village campYou depart South Luangwa on classic African roads through some pristine Zambian bush for your African village camp. This is a wonderful way to catch a glimpse of rural life in Zambia, as you literally camp inside the village. Cultural exchanges abound and these camps are always a highlight. Day 19 - Lusaka, ZambiaYou will proceed to your camp near Lusaka and camp on the outskirts of the city in a privately owned rest camp. Game can sometimes be seen in the camp in the evenings at Eureka. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Camping (Eureka Camp) |
Day 20 - Victoria Falls, ZambiaToday you are bound for Victoria Falls - one of the 'seven natural wonders' of the world. You are free to explore it at your leisure. Day 21 - Cape Town
After breakfast, end of Overland tour and services. Many clients will be continuing on, joining the Southern Skies trip which departs Victoria Falls and continues down through all of the highlights of Botswana and Namibia and end is the fairest Cape Town. Please ask us for assistance for connecting trips. |
