  • What to expect on this 24 day South Africa and Victoria Falls Vacation:

    You will discover the best of South Africa and Victoria Falls during this exciting and memorable South Africa vacation package. Your journey takes you through the beauty and energy of the Mother City – Cape Town, the charming villages and towns along the spectacular Garden Route, majestic Elephant at Addo, the magnificent Wild Coast, the resort city of Durban, the world famous Kruger National Park and, finally, the stunning and awe inspiring Victoria Falls.

    Day 1: Drifters Inn, Cape Town, South Africa

    After clearing with customs and immigrations, a representative from the lodge will be waiting for you with a name board. You transfer to Cape Town where you will be accommodated in a standard room at the Drifter's Inn.

    The Drifter's Inn:
    Located virtually on the beachfront in Sea Point , this beautiful Inn is ideally situated for easy access to all of Cape Town's major attractions. This Inn offers 12 twin bedrooms, mostly en-suite. Some of these rooms share a bathroom and is the ideal stopover for a few nights.

    Day 2: Drifters Inn, Cape Town, South Africa

    Your overland adventure tour commences at 08:30am. You will partake in an awe inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point. En route you can enjoy the breathtaking sites of magnificent beaches, picturesque views and historic and quaint coastal villages.

    You travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, stopping at Llandudno look out point and continuing to Hout Bay. Hout Bay is a charming seaside village and fishing harbour boasting incredible mountain and sea views. There is an optional excursion to Seal Island by boat (seasonal).

    Your overland adventure tour continues on through Constantia Nek and Ou Kaapse weg and on to Cape Point and the Good Hope Nature Reserve. The Good Hope Nature Reserve is home to an abundance of plant and animal life, as well as a profuse bird life.

    After lunch at a nearby restaurant (own expense) you travel to Simon's Town, a village with a naval base and a large Penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Your tour ends at around 17:30pm after a visit to the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

    Day 3: De Hoop Nature Reserve, Western Cape, South Africa


    Today you depart from the Drifters Inn at 08:30am following the rugged coastline through the numerous fishing villages to Hermanus. Hermanus is a well known village offering the finest land based Whale watching (in season).

    Your next stop during this overland adventure tour is the southern most tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas, where the warm Indian and cold Atlantic oceans meet. This afternoon will be spent game watching in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, acclaimed for its unique flora, fauna and breathtaking scenery. You spend the night in comfortable bungalows with dinner included.

    Day 4: Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa

    After an early start you leave the coast and cross the mighty Outeniqua Mountains, entering the dry Karoo interior. You follow the famous Route 62 toward Oudtshoorn where you will get a chance to visit the Cango Caves, one of the world's great wonders.

    Your tour will also visit a commercial Ostrich farm where you will learn more about these majestic, flightless birds. Later in the afternoon you traverse the Outeniqua Pass and travel through the Lake District en route to your Log Cabins tucked away in the heart of the lush Knysna forest. Your home for the next 2 nights will be at the Drifter's Knysna Inn on an all inclusive basis.

    Day 5: Knysna, Garden Route, South Africa

    Day 5 will be spent exploring the spectacular Garden Route and its many attractions. You will walk in the forest in search of the elusive Knysna Loerie. Visit sun kissed beaches and enjoy a boat trip on the Drifter's Ski Boat around the Knysna Lagoon and through the Heads in search of playful Dolphin and Whale (weather permitting). This evening you will dine at a restaurant in the vibrant woodcutter town of Knysna on a bed and breakfast basis (Lunch and dinner on your own expense).

    Day 6: Addo Elephant Park, Eastern Cape, South Africa


    Today the overland adventure tour travels to the 'Old Passes Road' to the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park. Here you will walk part of the acclaimed 'Otter Trail'. Continuing along the coast, you pass through Port Elizabeth en route to your camp near Addo Elephant Reserve where you will spend the night in comfortable cabins. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.

    Day 7: Addo Elephant Park, Eastern Cape, South Africa

    Your day will be spent exploring the Park, famous for its herds of African Elephant, Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo, dung beetles and other interesting species. You will then return to your cabin for the night. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.

    Day 8: East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa

    You travel back to the coast today where you wind through the frontier area first settled by the 1820 settlers. You pass through numerous towns that once formed colonial Africa before making your way to East London. This afternoon you partake in a guided township tour before heading to a local shebeen where you sample local dishes and enjoy traditional Jazz music. Dinner is at your own expense.

    Days 9 & 10: Wild Coast, South Africa


    Today your overland adventure tour travels into an area once designated as a Tribal Homeland during the Apartheid era (Transkei). Nelson Mandela was born here, and your route takes you past both his birthplace and the holiday house he built to replicate his prison house. You arrive at your remote, secluded resort in the afternoon, where you will spend 2 nights. A full day will be spent on the beach enjoying the sea, sand, sun and surf.

    A hike will be conducted along the Wild Coast. Accommodation is part of a rural community project and is rustic and clients may be expected to share more than 2 per bungalow. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.

    Days 11 & 12: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

    Today you pass through the scenic hills of the Eastern Cape, dotted with rural villages where women work in the fields and men tend to their cows as they have for centuries. Your journey takes you past the many resorts of the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast before entering Durban- South Africa's holiday city and home to Africa's busiest harbour.

    Your accommodation for the next 2 nights is just north of Durban at the Drifter's Dolphin Coast Inn, situated right on the beach. This is the ideal place to relax and unwind after the many days of traveling. Tonight you enjoy a braai (barbecue) on the patio before falling asleep to the sound of the crashing waves. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.

    Day 13: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga, South Africa

    Today you depart from Durban and fly to O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. You depart the airport in a 7 seater, air conditioned shuttle making your way to the famous Kruger National Park. Upon arrival at the Kruger National Park, your African safari guide will be waiting to greet you with a refreshing welcome drink. After a briefing you will enjoy your first exciting game drive in an open safari vehicle. After dinner you retire to your bungalow for your first night in the bush. Dinner is included.

    Days 14 -16: Kruger National Park, South Africa

    Wake up before sunrise to a steaming cup of tea and coffee with rusks before heading out on a morning game drive. Game viewing is best in the early mornings and you are sure to have excellent sightings. Your tour will provide you with the opportunity to experience the fascinating wildlife of the Park in open 4X4 safari vehicles.

    You return to your restcamp for a delicious brunch. During the heat of the day you can use this time to relax, enjoy an afternoon siesta in your bungalow, stroll down to a lookout point for some quiet time, or even stock up on some gifts from the curio shop.

    The rest of the afternoon will be spent on game drives where your knowledgeable guide will teach you all about the wonders of the bush. The birdlife in the Kruger Park is spectacular. During your game drive, keep an eye out for the magnificent Big Five. Other common sightings include Hippo, Wild Dog, Hyena and Crocodile.

    After the 1-2 hour game drive you meet up with the Kruger Park rangers for an exciting night game drive to see the nocturnally active animals of the Park. Upon return you will be treated to an exquisite bush dinner served around a roaring camp fire under the beautiful African night sky. Discuss the day’s sightings with your safari guide and let the magic of the night seep into your soul. Brunch, afternoon snacks and dinner is included.

    Day 17 - 20: Kruger National Park, South Africa

    Today you travel to a lovely lodge in Kruger National Park where you will spend the next 3 nights in comfort and style. Experience the thrill of the wild on exciting morning and afternoon game drives before your transfer back to Johannesburg. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.

    Day 21: Kruger National Park to Johannesburg, South Africa

    Today you bid farewell to the Kruger National Park and your African safari guides. You enjoy a final game drive and say goodbye to the creatures of the wild. You will then be transferred to Johannesburg in a luxury, air conditioned vehicle for your flight to the Victoria Falls. Brunch is included.

    Days 22 - 24: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe


    You will spend the next 3 days of your overland adventure tour at Imbalala Safari Lodge in Victoria Falls where you will enjoy great game viewing close to the Falls and Chobe. Partake in many game activities, including game drives, game walks, river cruises and fishing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.

    Day 25: Tour ends

    Today you depart the Victoria Falls after breakfast for your flight back to Johannesburg.
