Ngai - The Possessor of Brightness
Mt Kenya - home to the Supreme Being

The local Kikuyu believe that Mt Kenya is home to the Supreme Being - Ngai. The mountain is known as Kere Nyaga - Mountain of Brightness, and people living on its slopes always position their houses to face towards this sacred peak.

Ngorongoro crater is 2,235 metres (7,264 feet) above sea level. It can get quite fresh up here, and gets very cold at night in the winter months of June, July and August.
